At Rancharrah, Excellence Is A Family Tradition.

The history of Rancharrah is written in the shadows of the Sierra Nevada mountain range in the beautiful sage covered foothills of the Truckee Meadows. Legendary gaming magnet, Bill Harrah, purchased this extraordinary piece of property in 1957 from Norman Biltz, the “Duke of Nevada” himself. On March 1st of that same year, Mr. Harrah dubbed the Camelot-like area, Rancharrah. Just as he single handedly transformed the gaming industry through his unwavering dedication to quality and excellence, he put the same effort into this 150 acre property in Reno, Nevada. Over the years this pristine estate has played host to a long list of Hollywood celebrities and government dignitaries, including President Dwight and Mamie Eisenhower.

The same tradition of quality and excellence that Bill Harrah put into every moment he lived was passed on to his oldest son John Harrah. Under John’s direction Rancharrah was developed into one of the most prestigious and successful cutting horse facilities in the nation. After realizing his goal John wanted to give people the opportunity to share in the beauty of the ranch and his love of horses. To that end the ranch opened their gates for weddings, special events, fundraisers and corporate functions.

Rancharrah continues to operate the state-of-the-art equestrian center now offering boarding and training to the public. The elite facility offers a large climate controlled indoor arena, multiple outdoor arenas, stalls with paddocks, large pastures and trails. The stable offers top-level professional training and instruction through the advanced competition levels in multiple disciplines including dressage, cutting, working cow horse and stock horse.
