Colin Smith, co-owner of Roundabout Grill in Whitney Peak Hotel and Roundabout Catering & Party Rentals, recently was named consulting chef and food and beverage director for The Club at Rancharrah. Chef Colin is known for his classical European style of cooking. He is a talented and charismatic creator of all things delicious and has even appeared on Beat Bobby Flay.
Smith attended the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco and began his career as an apprentice in the kitchens of European chefs throughout the Bay Area. He went on to work in some notable restaurants such as Lippizaner, Duck Club, Saros, Danville Hotel and Stars.
Most recently, Colin Smith was the chef for Club events, including Cosmos & Caviar in April and the Grill & Chill event held at the end of July.
The Club’s Restaurant & Bar will feature craft cocktails and fresh, farm-to-table seasonal dishes promoting local growers, farmers and ranchers and will also be partly sourced from the chef’s garden on-site.

Chef Colin is a board member of the Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows and oversaw the 38th annual Cioppino Feed menu. He has been a mentor for the Pro Start Culinary program, a founding chef of the Big Chefs Big Gala event for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern Nevada, and a member of Chaîne des Rôtisseurs and the High Sierra Chefs Association.
